Description
Under new ICO powers which are expected to come into force in April, data breaches could incur penalties of up to £500,000. With data being lost in both the public and private sector still making the headlines, this has highlighted the need for many organisations to ensure that their systems for protecting employee data are robust.
This one day seminar will explore in detail the employment law implications of a breach to an employees human rights and privacy at the workplace and what employers need to do to ensure that it is complying with current privacy legislation.
Chaired by Fraser Younson (Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP), the seminar will be spilt into 4 sections: surveillance; disputes and litigation; data transfers. The final session will focus on IT forensics and what the current capabilities are, presented by Julian Parker, Stoz Friedberg.
Seminar sessions and speakers:
- View from the ICO – David Evans, ICO
- Workplace monitoring and surveillance – Bernadette Daley, Mayer Brown International LLP
- Workplace surveillance scenario: real life case study – Ellen Temperton, Lewis Silkin LLP
